2013 Acura ZDX announced, will be the last one

The Japanese automaker Acura has announced the upcoming demise of the ZDX crossover which has received one final update before it will be axed from the lineup. Considered as a rival for the BMW X6, the oddly shaped vehicle follows the footsteps of its predecessor so it’s not what you would call a pretty car. The 2013 model year brings a slightly revised front grille, along with power folding mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, as well as a bunch of safety features like Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning.

The few of you who are interested in this car should be prepared to pay the hefty price tag of $51,815 which includes the $895 destination fee.

Acura has equipped the 2013 ZDX with all the available technology that they can put inside a car, including the Acura/ELS sound system, navigation system, those safety features we’ve mentioned and leather upholstery for utmost comfort. The bad news is that there aren’t any improvements in the fuel economy department so the crossover only returns 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. This is because of the thirsty 300 hp V6 3.7-liter engine and the AWD layout.

The reason why Acura is discontinuing this model is because of the poor sales numbers, as last month they delivered in United States only 48 cars, while since the beginning of this year they sold only 642 ZDXs. To the surprise of many, Acura has decided to give the ZDX one final refresh, hoping that it will sell better but chances are that it will have the same faith as its predecessors.
