2013 Fiat 500e can return 116 MPGe

We finally have the official MPGe figures for the 2013 Fiat 500e. The Italian firm has confirmed earlier this week that the electric version of the 500 city car has received an EPA-certified fuel economy rating of 122 MPGe in the city, 104 MPGe on the highway and 116 MPGe in the combined cycle. Despite the fact that these figures are lower than what the Honda Fit EV can provide, Fiat says the 500e will have an annual running cost of only 500 USD / 379 EUR, based on calculations made from travelling 15,000 miles (24,140 km) per year. It is very important to mention that Fiat has previously said the 500e will not be sold outside of U.S.

At its heart is an electric motor generating 111 hp (83 kW) and an instant torque of 200 Nm (147 lb-ft). It works together with a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery, enabling the petite vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 85 mph (137 km/h). With the batteries at a full capacity, the 2013 Fiat 500e is able to travel for up to 87 miles (140 km).

Pricing will be revealed closer to the car’s launch which is scheduled for the following spring.
