2013 Hyundai Genesis Sedan introduced

Approximately four years ago the Korean carmaker Hyundai introduced the sedan version of the Genesis, and now time has come for a mild refresh before the new generation of the model hits the market towards the end of next year. There are some important changes for the new model year as Hyundai has decided to ditch the V8 4.6-liter 385 hp engine and the standard V8 5.0-liter unit from the models sold in the United States. This means that from now on the entry-level Genesis Sedan will be available only with a V6 3.8-liter engine that is capable of producing 333 hp, while the hotter R-Spec version is motivated by a beefier V8 5.0-liter that unleashes 429 hp. These two engines are linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends those ponies to the wheels in the back.

This refreshed version of the Hyundai Genesis Sedan features an all-new 8-inch DIS – Driver Information System display, while options for both versions of the car include an enhanced multimedia controller and a navigation system so that you don’t get lost on your trip. The automaker says that this new display integrates the same rotating dial with joystick-type function but at the same time it brings enhanced voice-recognition commands, “a more intuitive interface”, as well as better navigation screen layouts. This system used for the refreshed Genesis features a 64GB solid state drive (SSD) for storing images, music and videos.

The 2013MY Hyundai Genesis Sedan comes equipped with the Blue Link telematics system, which works just about the same as GM’s Onstar, allowing users to remotely lock or unlock the car’s doors, track the car when it is stolen or send text messages. It also comes with “hot keys” that allow the driver to access the vehicle’s primary controls without the need of using the infotainment system. The aforementioned Blue Link telematics system is offered in three packages: Assurance, Essentials and Guidance.
