2013 Seat Leon fully revealed

The third generation of the Leon has been revealed by the Spanish automaker Seat, and we have learned that it will be offered in three body styles, just like the smaller Ibiza model. This means that clients will be able to get the new Leon in a five-door, three-door or an estate variant, all of which will get their public debut next week at the Paris Motor Show. The five-door model is the first car in its segment to feature full LED headlamps and represents the second model based on the MQB platform, after the Audi A3. It adopts the design language first seen on the company’s IBE, IBX and IBL concepts. It weighs approximately 90 kg less than the outgoing model and measures 4263mm long, 1816mm wide and 1459mm high.

Under the hood it will get a 1.2-liter TSI engine with 85 hp / 104 hp with CO2 emissions standing at less than 140 g/km. There’s also a larger 1.8-liter TFSI capable of producing 178 hp. Later on Seat will launch a 1.4-liter TSI with 120 hp / 138 hp, with the latter benefiting from the active cylinder technology that can shut down two cylinders to improve fuel economy. The diesel lineup includes a 1.6-liter TDI with 89 hp or 104 hp, as well as a beefier 2.0-liter TDI that will be offered in two states of tune: 148 hp and 181 hp. The former is going to emit less than 110 g/km and return an impressive 70+ mpg UK.
