2014 Audi RS6 Avant revealed

Audi has released details and photos of the upcoming 2014 RS6 Avant. Power comes from a new twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter TFSI engine that generates 552 hp and a peak torque of 516 lb-ft. This power unit benefits from the cylinder on demand system and allows the engine to run with only four cylinders during low to intermediate loads to reduce fuel consumption. It is connected to an 8-speed tiptronic which sends the power through the quattro permanent AWD system with torque vectoring. This new engine can be found under the hood of the Audi S8 and the Bentley Continental. This new variant is considerably quicker than the model it replaces.

It needs only 3.9 seconds to perform the 0-100 km/h sprint, making it half a second faster than the outgoing version, while at the same time it’s 0.4 quicker than the BMW M5 sedan. When it comes down to top speed, the standard model is electronically limited to 250 km/h, but with the optional Dynamic package fitted the RS6 Avant is able to reach a top speed of 280 km/h. Those who choose Dynamic Plus can accelerate their car to 305 km/h.

The car is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in 2013, while details about a possible North American arrival are not available at the moment.
