2016 Chevrolet Malibu breaks cover

The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu has been unveiled at the New York Auto Show and will hit dealerships in the fourth quarter of the year. Compared to its predecessor, the new model is 2.3 inches longer and almost 300 lbs lighter while the wheelbase has been extended by 3.6 inches. As seen in the attached images, it looks way more attractive and sleeker than the model it replaces thanks to a curvy body, sloping roofline and sharper lines which make the mid-size sedan far more desirable than ever before.

The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will be available with a new Ecotec 1.5-liter turbo engine delivering around 160 bhp (119 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. If this is not enough, upgrade to the 2.0-liter turbo which generates approximately 250 bhp (186 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). There’s also a hybrid variant mixing up a four-cylinder 1.8-liter engine with a two-motor drive unit to grant the vehicle with a combined output of 182 bhp (136 kW). This model also uses a 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and enables the car to run on electric power at speeds of up to 55 mph.

Inside the cabin, there’s an extra 1.3 inches of rear legroom, along with a 7- or 8-inch touchscreen display, dual rear-mounted USB ports, 110-volt power outlet and wireless smartphone charging. It gets ten airbags, rearview camera along with an extensive list of safety & assistance systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, New Lane Keep Assist and Front Pedestrian Alert.
