2016 Honda Pilot debuts in Chicago

The 2016 Honda Pilot is currently on display at the Chicago Auto Show before going on sale sometime this summer. The third generation has lost a whopping 300 lbs and will be powered by a V6 3.5-liter engine benefiting from cylinder deactivation technology. The output will be channeled to a standard front-wheel drive system or an optional AWD setup through a six-speed automatic gearbox or a nine-speed automatic transmission. On the inside it comes with significantly better materials including more soft touch plastics while the front seats are heated and ventilated. The second row of seats are also heated and can optionally be ordered as captain’s chairs.

The model has received an 8-inch Display Audio system, LED map lights and an optional rear entertainment system featuring a 9-inch display. On the outside it adopts an evolutionary design, a spoiler mounted on the tailgate while more premium versions can get LED headlights (and daytime running lights), 20-inch rims and a panoramic glass roof.

Despite losing so much weight, the 2016 Honda Pilot is actually bigger than its predecessor as the overall length has increased by 3.5 inches. More details will be released in the months to come prior to the model’s market debut set for this summer.
