2016 Jaguar XF breaks cover

The 2016 Jaguar XF has made its online debut and will be seen in the metal next week at the New York Auto Show. Looking pretty much like a larger XE, Jaguar’s new mid-size sedan is 7mm shorter than the previous model and is also 3mm lower while the 2960mm wheelbase is 51mm longer compared to the model it replaces. Jaguar says the stretched wheelbase grants the new XF with the best rear seat space in its segment. Thanks to a 75% aluminum construction, Jaguar was able to shave off as much as 190 kg from the previous model and the weight is distributed almost 50:50.

As far as the engine lineup is concerned, the 2016 Jaguar XF can be had with a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter Ingenium turbodiesel engine offered in two states of tune: 163 HP & 380 Nm and 180 HP & 430 Nm. The mid-size premium sedan can also be acquired with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine rated at 300 HP & 700 Nm or with a beefier supercharged V6 3.0-liter in the XF S where it churns 380 HP & 450 Nm.

All these motors work exclusively with an 8-speed automatic transmission, with the exception of the 163 HP diesel which can be had with a 6-speed manual gearbox granting the XF with a fuel economy rating of more than 70 mpg UK and 104 g/km of CO2 emissions.
