2016 Scion iA revealed; basically a rebadged Mazda2 Sedan

The 2016 Scion iA has premiered today in New York and is essentially a rebadged variant of the Mazda2 subcompact sedan. It will carry a starting price of around $16,000 and will come powered exclusively by a gasoline 1.5-liter engine delivering 106 HP (78 kW). The motor can be paired to a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission, with Scion saying that it will return 33 mpg in the city, 42 mpg on the highway and 37 mpg in the combined cycle.

It gets 16-inch alloy wheels and benefits from a MacPherson strut front suspension combined with a torsion beam rear layout. The 2016 Scion iA also has a “high-strength body structure” and will come nicely equipped as standard with push-button engine start, keyless entry, rearview camera and a low-speed pre-collision system.


Inside the cabin it gets a seven-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system that benefits from voice recognition support. It has a six-speaker sound system and support for two USB ports, AUX input and a navigation system.
