The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has made its world premiere at NAIAS in Detroit, prior to going on sale in the fall of 2016. It’s being described as the “ultimate high-performance off-road pickup” featuring a prominent front mesh grille with built-in marking lights and the “Ford” lettering. It adopts a rugged front bumper     , silver skid plate, LED headlights, ventilated front fenders and fender flares while the 17-inch rims are wrapped around in BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires. The model can also be visually distinguished by its dual exhaust system and a bespoke tailgate.

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will get an uprated variant of the V6 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine which will generate more power than the current V8 6.2-liter that is rated at 411 bhp (306 kW) and 587 Nm (434 lb-ft). It will work with a newly developed 10-speed automatic gearbox sending output to a new four-wheel drive setup that has a torque-on-demand transfer case.

Thanks to a more extensive use of high-strength steel and aluminum, the vehicle is 227+ kg (500+ lbs) lighter than the model it replaces and at an additional cost it can get a Torsen front differential improving off-road capabilities.
