2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class convoy of prototypes seen in Germany

No less than four prototypes of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class were captured on camera this week testing on Germany’s public roads. Two of them had a matte black camouflage while the other two were carrying the usual black & white swirly disguise and as you can see all of the cars were sedans, but obviously the Daimler-owned company will launch a lot of body styles for the W213 generation. The design doesn’t hold any surprises as we all know the new E will look like a bigger C or a smaller S, with the interior cabin having more in common with its larger brother.

Despite growing in size a little bit, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will likely be slightly lighter thanks to the MRA platform borrowed from the C-Class which should grant a significant weight loss. The sedan will be the first to come out and will be followed by the more practical wagon, as well as by the coupe and cabrio body styles. In addition, there’s also going to be a more luxurious derivative with the Maybach badge and a longer wheelbase granting superior room for the rear passengers.

It should be mentioned all of the body styles are bound to receive the AMG treatment, with the only exception being the Maybach variant which will focus on luxury.
