Tata BOLT compact hatchback introduced in New Delhi

Tata has started this week with a bang as besides launching the ZEST baby sedan they have also unveiled a hatchback derivative which will be sold with the BOLT designation. The vehicle uses the newly created DesignNext styling language developed by the Indian carmaker and comes with Tata’s brand new infotainment system called HARMAN. It benefits from a five-inch touchscreen providing support for Bluetooth, voice recognition, as well as social media and smartphone integration. The interior cabin looks significantly more upscale compared to previous Tata models and so it should since the company wants to sell the BOLT hatchback as a global model.

Motivation will come from the same engines found under the bonnet of the ZEST so expect to find a new 1.2-liter turbo 4-cylinder Revotron turbocharged gasoline mill with 85 HP at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 140 Nm between 1,750 rpm and 3,000 rpm. Customers will also have the possibility of ordering the car with a Fiat-derived 1.3-liter Quadrajet diesel delivering 90 HP and 200 Nm which will work combined with a 5-speed automated-manual gearbox.
