Opel Astra OPC EXTREME revealed ahead of Geneva debut

Opel has gone insane but in a very good way as the German automaker is presenting the Astra OPC EXTREME which is more than just for show as the model will enter limited production. The car is a whopping 100 kg lighter than the regular Astra OPC thanks to carbon fiber wheels, hood, roof, along with aluminum-made fenders. To further lower its weight, Opel’s engineers have removed the rear seats and installed a safety roll bar, while the stock front wheels were ditched in order to make room for custom Recaro bucket seats equipped with six-point Schroth safety belts.

Under the hood is an uprated 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine made from aluminum which churns in excess of 300 bhp and delivers those ponies to the front alloys via a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited slip differential. The vehicle now rides on a fresh new set of 19-inch alloy wheels and has received Brembo 6-piston brakes with front 370mm discs. It also comes with bespoke 245/35 tires along with a carbon fiber-reinforced steering wheel wrapped around in suede featuring contrast yellow stitching.
