Mercedes-Benz asking €226,100 for G500 4×4²

Mercedes-Benz has announced the G500 4×4² carries a starting price in Germany of €226,100. The high-riding G-Class was unveiled in conceptual form in March at the Geneva Moto Show and has now made the transition to a production model set to fill in the void left by the G63 AMG 6×6’s demise. It doesn’t have six wheels, but it does come with the same portal axles and it’s also a lot more affordable as the 6×6 version was priced at €456,900. It looks just about the same as the regular G-Class, but the significantly increased ride height and three lockable differentials boost the vehicle’s off-roading capabilities even further and it also has massive 22-inch wheels shod in 325/55 R22 tires.

It also has an off-road reduction in the transfer case and comes with a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing 422 PS (310 kW) and a generous peak torque of 610 Nm (450 lb-ft). The same engine can also be had in the regular G500 which costs €105,035 while a more economical G350d has a turbodiesel engine with 245 PS & 600 Nm and costs €89,922.

For those who are not too fond of the G500 4×4², there are a couple of more powerful versions such as the G63 AMG with 571 PS & 760 Nm priced from €143,216 and the flagship G65 AMG with 612 PS & 1,000 Nm from €271,915.

The upgraded Mercedes-Benz G-Class lineup will go on sale in September.
