2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport breaks cover

The all-new 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is finally here and has a rather controversial exterior design. Up front it adopts the corporate “Dynamic Shield” look from the Outlander Sport so it packs the same generous amount of chrome trim along with slender headlights that incorporate strips of LED DRLs. We also notice the rounded fog lights sit low within the bumper while the side profile hosts prominent side skirts and muscular wheel arches while the generous ground clearance should enable some serious off-roading capabilities. The rear end is what makes the mid-size SUV stand out as those vertical taillights look a bit weird and are similar to those of the 2013 GR-HEV concept.

The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport gets a four-cylinder, 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine working with a new eight-speed automatic transmission developed specifically for this model. We don’t know how much power the engine generates but at least we can tell you it offers 154 PS & 380 Nm and 181 PS & 430 Nm in the L200 / Triton upon which the mid-size SUV is largely based.

As far as the interior cabin is concerned, it features the first ever electric parking brake installed in a Mitsubishi while the overall layout resembles the L200 which isn’t really that surprising as automakers are doing this to cut costs with development.
