Citroen to showcase Cactus M concept at IAA this month

French marque Citroen has released images and details of their Cactus M concept set to arrive this month at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It’s based on the production Cactus and draws its inspiration from the classic Méhari so it has been turned into a convertible with an inflatable roof that also doubles as a tent when not installed on the car. The interesting concept benefits from new lightweight plastic doors and comes with a rear roof extension granting the possibility to store wakeboards and surfboards on top of the vehicle.

As far as the interior cabin is concerned, the Citroen Cactus M concept has just about the same layout as the production car, but it adopts neoprene fabric seats that have been designed to look like wetsuits and are entirely waterproof. You can actually hose out the interior as Citroen’s engineers have fitted the Cactus M with drainage holes built into the floor.

It’s not known at this point what powers the concept, but we can tell you the vehicle has received the company’s proprietary Grip Control system which enables the car to provide better traction on all types of roads without the need of a more complex and heavier all-wheel drive system.
