Callaway Competition launches Corvette C7 GT3-R

Callaway Competition has taken the wraps off the Corvette C7 GT3-R. The official reveal was made a few days ago in Germany at the famous Hockenheimring track before the car’s racing debut set for next year when it will effectively replace the Callaway Z06.R GT3. As you can see, the racecar looks absolutely sinister thanks to a wide body manufactured from carbon fiber and created by well-known designer Paul Deutschman. Matching the apocalyptic design is a very powerful V8 6.2-liter engine which develops no less than 600 bhp (447 kW) and works with a 6-speed X-Trac sequential transmission equipped with paddle-shift technology.

According to Callaway Competition, this hardware setup has enabled the racecar to surpass the company’s predictions in terms of performance, so it should be very fast on the circuit. The first Corvette C7 GT3-R is going to be campaigned by Callaway Competition’s in-house race team sponsored by Whelen Engineering of Chester.

Needless to say, the new racecar meets all of the FIA rules and regulations and will take part in a variety of racing series worldwide starting next year. There’s no word about the price tag just yet, but given the numerous modifications, it certainly won’t be cheap.
