Audi Q6 could be made in Belgium starting 2018

A new rumor indicates the Audi Q6 electric crossover will be manufactured at the company’s factory in Brussels. The model is expected to hit the assembly line at the beginning of 2018 and will be a follow-up to the e-tron quattro concept that was introduced about a month ago in Frankfurt during 2015 IAA. At the plant in Belgium, Audi currently makes the A1 lineup and last year the factory had a production output of around 115,000 cars that were put together by the 2,500 employees working there. Audi’s direct competitor to the Tesla Model X could eventually become the sole model in production at that plant since the next-gen A1 could be assembled at SEAT’s plant in Spain.

Details concerning the Audi Q6 are scarce at the moment, but at least we know that it will use a newly developed battery pack created in collaboration with Samsung SDI and LG Chem which will grant the crossover with a maximum range of more than 500 km. The aforementioned concept was powered by three electric motors with a combined output of 503 PS and 800+ Nm with overboost which enabled a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.6 seconds before topping out at a limited 130 mph (210 km/h).
