1997 Panoz Esperante GTR-1 fully restored ahead of Dubai Motor Show debut

The 1997 Panoz Esperante GTR-1 Le Mans Homologation Special has been recently restored and will be unveiled at the Dubai Motor Show. It’s the only car in the world and was created with the sole purpose of enabling the Esperante GTR-1 racecar compete in the Le Mans 24 Hour endurance race of 1997. We are dealing here with a road-legal supercar that has gone through six months of restorations and now it looks like it just came out of the assembly line as the attention to detail both inside and out is simply astonishing. You won’t be able to buy it as the American marque says they don’t have any intentions of selling the truly unique car.

Motivation is provided by a Ford-developed 6.0-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine pushing out more than 600 bhp (447 kW) and 677 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque coupled to a ZF six-speed transaxle gearbox. It sits on OZ Racing 18-inch center-lock wheels wrapped around in 285/40 R18 tires while the stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes with eight-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.

Although the 1997 Panoz Esperante GTR-1 Le Mans Homologation Special is not for sale, you can order a “near-exact carbon fiber replica” that carries a starting price of $890,000.
