Toyota introduces GT 86 GT4

Toyota and GPRM have worked together to develop this GT4 version of the GT 86. You probably have seen a few racing versions of the GT 86 but this would have to be the first one which has been entirely designed to comply with the FIA regulations regarding the GT4 category. GPRM is a United Kingdom-based engineering and motorsport firm and they installed a custom version of the car’s 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter boxer engine.

They joined forces with Nicholson McLaren Engines to further tweak the engine which is said to have an output of 360 hp (268 kW) up to 400 hp (298 kW).

The final output of the boxer engine will be determined after the testing phase will be over. If all go according to plan, the Toyota GT 86 GT4 is going to take part in various GT4 competitions as early as next year. We don’t have any information regarding the price tag of the car, but Toyota and GPRM have mentioned they have already received an order for the car. Most likely, more will follow in the upcoming months since this looks to be a very promising racer which shouldn’t cost a lot of money since the base car is not that expensive.
