Chevrolet Corvette’s engine produces up to 460 bhp

Chevrolet announced this week that the engine of the 2014 Corvette Stingray is capable of producing a SAE-certified 455 bhp (339 kW) and a peak torque of 624 Nm (460 lb-ft). When this 6.2-liter LT1 V8 mill is working together with the optional performance exhaust system, the output is increased to 460 bhp (343 kW) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft). Chevrolet didn’t released any additional specifications about the car, but did say the LT1 power unit benefits from cylinder deactivation technology and direct injection which are aimed to lower the car’s fuel consumption.

We already know that the coupe is capable of performing the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in less than four seconds and will be able to return more than 26 mpg US on the highway. The car is scheduled to hit the market later on this year at a starting price of $51,995 when opting for the coupe and $56,995 when choosing the convertible.
