Nissan updates 1.5 dCi engine for Juke

Nissan has launched the sixth generation of the 1.5-liter dCi engine for the Juke. The torque amount has been increased by 20 Nm (14.7 lb-ft) to 260 Nm (191.7 lb-ft) and 80 percent of this torque can be had from just 1,500 rpm. In addition, the Japanese marque says CO2 emissions have been slashed to 109 g/km. When equipped with this more frugal engine, the Juke has an average fuel consumption of 4.2 liters / 100 km (67 mpg UK or 56 mpg US). This was done by implementing a more responsive geometry turbocharger that is being fed by a more direct air intake path. There are low-friction enhancements likeas diamond-like carbon coatings.

Also on the list is the thermostatically-controlled variable displacement pump and Nissan’s proprietary stop/start system which will turn on the power unit within 0.5 seconds after the clutch pedal is engaged. This revised power unit can be had with any version of the Juke, except of course for the brutal Nismo model.
