Japanese automaker Mazda has made an interesting and surprising reveal this week at the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, Michigan. It’s called the Deep Orange 3 and was created by students learning at the Clemson University and the Art Center College of Design.
This is a very appealing hatchback wearing a gray paint scheme and featuring a svelte bodywork which is the creation of Frederick Naaman. It adopts a unique 3+3 seating layout and has a “sheet-folding” load-bearing structure.
The 2013 Mazda Deep Orange 3 Concept is motivated by a new type of hybrid powertrain that depending on the road conditions, it can automatically select a front-, rear- or all-wheel drive configuration. There are no details at this moment regarding a production version derived from this interesting concept.
