Porsche 918 Spyder production version revealed

Following months and months of concepts and pre-production versions, Porsche has released an official pic with the final production version of the 918 Spyder. The car is being showcased to the public at Pebble Beach where it has brought its plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a V8 4.6-liter twin-turbo gasoline engine, a couple of electric motors and a lithium-ion battery that has a capacity of 6.8 kWh. The conventional mill outputs 608 HP (447 kW) and a peak torque of 391 lb-ft (530 Nm). The two electric motors provide an additional 156 HP (115 kW) and 129 HP (95 kW).

As a result, the combined output of the Porsche 918 Spyder stands at an impressive 887 HP (661 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). The supercar is capable of hitting 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, while 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) is achieved in 7.9 seconds. The 918 Spyder needs 23 seconds from 0 to 186 mph (300 km/h), en route to a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h).

Porsche says that the production version of the 918 Spyder will return 71.2 mpg US (85.6 mpg UK or 3.3 liters / 100 km), while CO2 emissions stand at 79 g/km which is excellent taking into consideration the power of the supercar.
