2014 Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo announced

Alpina has released full details about the D3 Bi-Turbo that will be on the tuner’s venue at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany starting next week. Under the hood will reside a twin-turbo, straight-six 3.0-liter engine borrowed from the D5 and XD3 models. We are talking about a power unit which meets the stringent Euro 6 emissions and produces 345 bhp (257 kW) and a peak torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft). Thanks to this hardware arrangement, the high-performance Bavarian diesel will perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 173 mph (278 km/h).

Aside from going very fast, the Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo remains a frugal car as it will have a fuel consumption of 5.3 liters / 100 km (53.3 mpg UK or 44.3 mpg US), while CO2 emissions stand at 139 g/km. The vehicle will come as standard with a rear-wheel drive arrangement but for more money clients can opt for an all-wheel drive setup. At an additional cost, a limited-slip differential can be fitted.
