Audi Nanuk quattro concept storms into Frankfurt

We weren’t aware Audi was planning to showcase the Nanuk quattro concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show but the vehicle comes as a nice surprise. At its heart is a newly developed 5.0-liter V10 TDI twin-turbo engine outputting 544 HP and 1,000 Nm linked to an uprated seven-speed S tronic transmission. It weighs a hefty 1,900 kg but even so it will sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.8 seconds prior to hitting a top speed of 189 mph (305 km/h). Audi says the car has a fuel consumption of only 7.8 liters / 100 km (36.2 mpg UK or 30.1 mpg US).

It sits on 22-inch alloys shod in 235/50 front and 295/45 rear tires while behind them is an advanced carbon-fiber ceramic braking system. The Audi Nanuk quattro concept benefits from an air suspension system with electronically-controlled dampers which allows the driver to adjust the ground clearance manually to a lower (30mm) or higher setup (40mm).

Audi mentions the interesting concept measures 4541mm in length, 1990mm in width and 1337mm in height, featuring a 2710mm wheelbase along with an aluminum spaceframe with CFRP parts. It also has integral steering which means that at low speeds the rear wheels will turn up to nine degrees in the opposite direction of the front ones whereas at higher speeds all the wheels will be turned in the same way.
