2014 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive detailed

Mercedes-Benz has disclosed information about the upcoming production version of the B-Class Electric Drive which will reach dealerships in the United States next spring, while Europeans will get the car in the fall of 2014 to coincide with the model’s facelift. With the battery pack fully charged, the electrified B-Class will be able to travel for as much as 125 miles (200 km) before the batteries are completely depleted. Mercedes-Benz mentions this is a real range, not just a number written on a piece of paper. Filling up the batteries to their full capacity will take somewhere in the region of three hours.

The car will need a decent 7.9 seconds from 0 to 62 mph (100 km) on its way to a top speed of only 99 mph (160 km/h) which is quite normal for an electric car. The vehicle’s motor will be capable of outputting 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque. Specific pricing details have not been disclosed but a Daimler representative said the B-Class Electric Drive will be competitively priced.
