All-new Mazda6 breaks cover

The Japanese automaker Mazda has introduced this week at the Moscow Motor Show the new generation of the Mazda6 that will also be offered as a station wagon in some parts of the world, including Europe. It has a 111,4 inches (2,830 mm) wheelbase so it is 4.1 inches (105 mm ) longer than the outgoing model. The Mazda6 is 191.6 inches (4,865 mm) long, 72.4 inches (1,840 mm) wide and 57.1 inches (1,450 mm) tall. The car manages to provide an extra 0.8 inches (20 mm) shoulder room for the people sitting in the front, while at the back it has 1.7 inches (43 mm) greater knee clearance and 1.45 inches (37 mm) legroom. The cargo capacity stands at 483 liters and the trunk has a 32 mm wider opening.

The all-new Mazda6 has been fitted with a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, along with a new column-type electric power assistance. The Japanese carmaker said that the torsional rigidity has improved by approximately 30%. We know that in Russia it will be offered with a choice of two new 4-cylinder gasoline engines in the form of a 2.0-liter SKYACTIVE with 148 hp / 210 Nm and the larger 2.5-liter SKYACTIVE that pumps out 189 hp / 256 Nm. These two engines are linked to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while as standard the Mazda6 has the i-stop idling stop system.

The European-spec version of the Mazda6 sedan and station wagon are expected to be revealed next month during the Paris Motor Show when Mazda will provide more details about the engine lineup which will also include a diesel engine.
