Audi A7 h-tron quattro concept unveiled

The Audi A7 h-tron quattro concept has made its world premiere at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. This is a fuel cell car featuring 300 individual cells and four hydrogen tanks providing the concept with a maximum range of 500 km (310.7 miles). It consumes the equivalent of 3.7 liters / 100 km and once the tanks are depleted a full refill takes around three minutes so it’s only a little bit more than a regular tank refill. The fuel cells work in the 230-360 voltage range and have a polymer membrane while the recirculation fan returns the unused hydrogen.

The Audi A7 h-tron quattro concept comes with an 8.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack providing the vehicle with an additional range of 50 km (31.1 miles). Recharging the batteries will take two hours from a 360 volt source or four hours from a 230 volt outlet. There are two electric motors, one at the front and another in the back, each developing 85 kW or 114 kW once the voltage is temporarily raised. It has a combined output of 228 bhp and 540 Nm, enough to grant the 1,950 kg concept with a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 7.9 seconds and a 180 km/h (0-111.8 mph) top speed.
