Chevrolet presents 2016 Camaro Convertible

Chevrolet has staged the world premiere of the 2016 Camaro Convertible programmed to go on sale early next year. It wears just about the same body as the coupe but instead of the fixed metal roof it adopts a multi-layer electro-hydraulic power top which benefits from acoustic and thermal barriers and latches which release and secure the top. The driver can operate the roof at speeds of up to 30 mph (48 km/h) and he can also do it remotely when the car is stationary by using a key fob. It benefits from a hard tonneau cover which automatically hides the top whenever the roof is folded and according the Chevrolet it makes the model look as sleek as the coupe.

As you would expect, the 2016 Camaro Convertible will be offered with the same three engines as the coupe, kicking off with a four cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged motor rated at 275 bhp and 295 lb-ft of torque followed by a naturally aspirated V6 3.6-liter pushing out 335 bhp and 284 lb-ft. If this still isn’t enough, you will have to pay more for the flagship SS version which comes equipped with a larger V8 6.2-liter developing 455 bhp and 455 lb-ft of torque.
