Daihatsu reveals production-ready 2015 Copen

Daihatsu has launched the 2015 Copen in production guise at home in Japan, thus effectively bringing back to life its iconic kei car. The vehicle is 3395mm long, 1475mm wide and 1280mm tall and has received a two-piece electric roof together with a D-frame lightweight monocoque promising to triple the car’s stiffness and also improve its torsional rigidity. Power comes exclusively from a naturally aspirated 3-cylinder 12-valve gasoline motor developing 64 PS (47 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 68 lb-ft (92 Nm) of torque at 3,200 rpm sent to the front wheels.

The 2015 Daihatsu Copen also comes with an infotainment system, heated windscreen and a carbon fiber trim.

The model is scheduled to go on sale in Japan sometime next year and will be priced at 1,798,200 yen for the CVT version and at 1,819,800 yen for the manual model.
