Fiat 500X launched at Paris Motor Show

Fiat has officially revealed the 500X compact crossover in Paris and will be sold in more than 100 countries, including United States while Australian availability is pending. The vehicle will be manufactured at home in Melfi, Italy and will be available in two flavors: “one is more metropolitan” while the other is “ideal for leisure.” The engine lineup will be generous and will include a 1.4-liter Turbo MultiAir II developing 140 HP (104 kW) sending power to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

There’s also a 1.6-liter MultiJet II with 120 HP (90 kW) and a 2.0-liter MultiJet II rated at 140 HP (104 kW), with the latter working with a nine-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive arrangement. Fiat will offer the 500X also with a 1.6 E-torQ outputting 110 HP (82 kW) and working with a five-speed manual transmission and a FWD layout. Also under the hood there will be a 1.4 Turbo MultiAir II packing 170 HP (127 kW) mated to a nine-speed ‘box and all-wheel drive.


The range-topping variant will come with a powerful 2.4-liter Tigershark motor developing 184 HP (137 kW). If you prefer diesels, the 500X can get a 1.3 MultiJet II with 95 HP (70 kW) or a 2.0 MultiJet II developing 140 HP (104 kW). The diesels can work with five- or six-speed manual gearboxes and an optional AWD.
