Hennessey details the Venom F5

Hennessey has announced plans to develop the Venom F5, an evolution of the Venom GT which managed to hit a top speed of 270 mph. The new car is being prepared to hit the 290 mph mark and it will do so thanks to a more aerodynamic body that will have a drag coefficient reduced from 0.44 to less than 0.40. In addition, the 7.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine will be upgraded from the current 1,244 bhp to more than 1,400 bhp thanks to bigger turbochargers as well as upgraded fuel system and intercooler.

The Venom F5 will tip the scales at less than 1,300 kg and will be offered with a new paddle-shift single-clutch gearbox along the usual H-pattern manual transmission. Hennessey says they are also working on a GPS-based stability & traction control system and that the F5 will be faster in any given conditions than the GT.

At least 30 cars will be built, with deliveries scheduled to commence sometime in 2016. Until then, Hennessey will continue production of the Venom GT, of which 16 cars have been built so far out of a total of 29 units. The F5 will cost more than the GT which is priced at $1.2 million.
