Hennessey takes the 2016 Venom GT to 1,451 bhp

American tuner Hennessey has taken the wraps off the 2016 Venom GT which packs even more power than ever before. Already one of the quickest cars ever made, the Lotus Exige-based hypercar will be displayed this week at SEMA in Las Vegas with an upgraded iteration of the engine that now delivers a jaw-dropping 1,451 bhp (1,082 kW) which makes it one of the most powerful cars out there. Compared to the previous model, it’s up on power by a whopping 207 bhp (154 kW), so it should be substantially quicker than its predecessor which managed to hit 435.1 km/h (270.4 mph) last year.

Tipping the scales at 1,244 kg (2,743 lbs), the 2016 Venom GT is able to cover the 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) sprint in 2.4 seconds before topping out at an estimated 450+ km/h (280 mph) which would make it faster than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition. Hennessey wants to make only a “handful” of Venom GTs as they are focused primarily on the next generation model known as the “Venom F5” which will be even more powerful, faster as well as better handling compared to the outgoing Venom GT that has been on sale for quite some time.
