Lincoln launches 2016 MKX in Detroit

Lincoln has taken the wraps off the 2016 MKX at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The production model was previewed by the MKX concept so the design should look very familiar with that elegant split-wing front grille flanked by the headlights which can optionally benefit from LED technology. Also noticeable is the plastic body cladding, chrome accents, muscular front fenders while at the back there are wraparound taillights, dual exhaust pipes and a spoiler mounted on the tailgate. The interior cabin has high-end materials, including upscale leather upholstery, metallic accents, wood trim along with a floating center console and a large touchscreen.

The 2016 MKX will be powered by a V6 3.7-liter engine outputting 300 bhp (223 kW) and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm) or by a beefier V6 2.7-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo engine rated at 330 bhp (246 kW) and 370 lb-ft (501 Nm). Regardless of engine selection, both of them work with a 6-speed automatic gearbox while at an additional cost the crossover can get an all-wheel drive system.

Scheduled to go on sale this fall, the 2016 MKX will be available with a wide variety of options such as a 19-speaker Revel sound system, 22-way adjustable front seats, 360-degree camera system as well as safety and assistance systems like adaptive cruise control, blind spot information and lane-keeping assist.
