Lotus Evora 400 does 260 km/h on Hethel track

The brand new Lotus Evora 400 was put through its paces at home on the company’s Hethel test track. We remind you this is the company’s most powerful production car ever as it packs a mighty 400 bhp punch from a Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6 supercharged engine generating 410 Nm of torque. Christian Gebhardt from German magazine Sport Auto had the chance to test a pre-production unit and he managed to hit 161.5 mph (260 km/h). If the track’s straight would have been longer, the driver could have hit the quoted top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).

It should be mentioned this particular car had a six-speed manual gearbox but there’s also an optional six-speed automatic transmission being offered. The Lotus Evora 400 coupe will soon be joined by a roadster variant which will provide roughly the same performances, but will replace the fixed roof with dual carbon fiber panels that will be stowed in the front and each will weigh just 3 kg.

Getting back to the Lotus Evora 400 coupe, those who place an order for the variant equipped with the standard six-speed manual gearbox will also receive a limited-slip differential.

Lotus will kick off deliveries for European customers next month whereas clients from China and North America will start receiving their cars at the beginning of next year.
