McLaren P1 GTR officially revealed, debuts in Geneva

The McLaren P1 GTR has made its online debut this week and it’s now heading to the Geneva Motor Show which kicks off early next month. 50 kg lighter than the road-going P1, the track-only GTR version is even more powerful as the twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine has been updated and it now churns no less than 800 HP (588 kW) while the electric motor has been further boosted to 200 HP (147 kW). Thanks to these changes, the track weapon is now capable of delivering a combined output of 1,000 HP (735,5 kW).

Compared to the P1, the GTR variant is 80mm wider and has been lowered by 50mm while the standard wheels have been replaced with a new set of 19-inch center-lock motorsport-spec wheels shod in slick tires from Pirelli. The McLaren P1 GTR has also gained a huge rear wing positioned 400mm above the rear end so it sits 100mm higher than the adjustable rear wing of the P1. All the aerodynamic tweaks have enabled the car to produce 10% more downforce and now it can generate 660 kg at 150 mph.

McLaren says the P1 GTR will be produced in limited numbers starting the second half of the year after the last P1 will be assembled.
