The Mercedes-AMG GT3 has been officially revealed online and will act as a successor for the SLS AMG GT3. It is based on the road-going Mercedes-AMG GT but has been transformed into a high-performance race car that complies with the GT3 regulations. As a consequence, it has received a carbon fiber body with revised front and rear bumpers, different side skirts, ventilated fenders and reshaped doors. Also noticeable are the carbon fiber flics, a ventilated hood, huge rear wing and a prominent rear diffuser.
Once inside the stripped out cabin, you will notice there’s a racing seat made from carbon fiber along with a steel roll cage and a digital instrument cluster. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 also comes with the usual race-spec switchgear and steering wheel and benefits from a carbon fiber trim to shave off excess weight.
Motivation is provided by an improved version of the V8 6.3-liter naturally aspirated engine which powered the aforementioned SLS AMG GT3 and in this latest application it will be coupled to a 6-speed sequential gearbox.
Sales of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 will commence in a short while and deliveries are programmed to start towards the end of the year ahead of next year’s racing debut.
