All-new Ford GT debuts in Detroit, going into production late 2016

An all-new Ford GT was unveiled this week at NAIAS in Detroit and it will go into production towards the end of next year. It’s without one of the most important cars currently on display at the North American auto show and it manages to feature a high-tech, modern look which is still reminiscent of the previous generations. Ford says the car’s body is aerodynamically optimized as a method to diminish drag and boost downforce while a carbon fiber passenger cell was installed to shave off weight. The car boasts upward-swinging doors and comes with an active rear spoiler while the front and rear subframes are made from aluminum.

The body panels of the 2017 Ford GT have been manufactured from carbon fiber while motivation is provided by a V6 twin-turbo EcoBoost engine churning more than 600 bhp (447 kW). The supercar features 20-inch alloy wheels shod in specially designed Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires and has been equipped with a 7-speed transaxle dual-clutch transmission which Ford promises will offer “near-instantaneous gear changes.”

Nothing is official but the new Ford GT will carry an estimated starting price of around $250,000 and should effectively go on sale early 2017 taking into account production will kick off late 2016.
