Peugeot 208 XY revealed in production guise

At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, French automaker Peugeot introduced the 208 XY concept as a more premium version of the popular hatchback. At that point there weren’t any news regarding a possible production version of that model but now we have learned that they will offer this more posh 208. The Peugeot 208 XY showed in these official images benefits from a wide array of exterior and interior enhancements, in the brand’s attempt to move this model more upmarket.

We notice the chrome finish for the window trims, fog lamp trims, mirror casings and also for the rear skirt bead, while the center pillar and the quarter panel adopt a gloss black finish.

Inside the cabin of this elegant Peugeot 208 XY there is an exclusive trim on the vents, steering wheel insert, dashboard, as well as for the front and rear crossbars, while other changes include the aluminum pedal bracket and footrest. The door trims are covered by a chrome finish, while the side decorations of the touchscreen and the vents also get this more upmarket look. Peugeot used a metallic bronze hue for the dashboard, while the seats are wrapped around in a combination of cloth and Alcantara.

Customers will have the possibility of purchasing the Peugeot 208 XY with two gasoline and two diesel engines, including a frugal 1.6-liter diesel that has CO2 emissions of just 98 g/km. Expect the car to go on sale in late 2012 or early 2013. The price list has not been disclosed yet by the French carmaker, but most definitely it will be higher in comparison to the standard 208.
