Porsche 911 Carrera lineup gets the AWD treatment

The Porsche 911 (991) lineup is being extended by the German automaker with the launch of the AWD versions of the Carrera and Carrera S. These will be available as a coupe and in the convertible form, with all models expected to make their public debut on September 27 at the Paris Motor Show. The Carrera 4/4S follow the footsteps of their predecessors and come with wider rear wheel arches in comparison to the regular RWD models. Other than that, the cars look virtually the same, except for the reflective strip connecting the lamp and also the moniker on the rear which sets the 2WD and 4WD models apart.

The Porsche Carrera 4 gets two oval tailpipes, while the hotter Carrera 4S version comes fitted with four exhaust tips. The Carrera 4 is motivated by the same engine as the rear-wheel drive model, meaning that it comes with a flat-six 3.4-liter direct fuel injection power unit that produces 345 hp (350 PS) at 7,400 rpm and 288 lb-ft (390 Nm) of torque reached at 5,600 rpm. The Carrera 4S has a larger 3.8-liter power plant also with direct fuel injection, capable of outputting 394 hp (400 PS) at 7,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 324 lb-ft (440 Nm) achieved at 5,600 rpm.
