Rolls-Royce announces SUV is due late 2018

Rolls-Royce has disclosed plans to launch their first ever SUV towards the end of 2018. The announcement was made by the company’s CEO Torsten Muller Otvos who went on to specify the model will easily dethrone the Bentley Bentayga from the top of the SUV class and he also suggested the model in question will bear the “Cullinan” moniker which is actually inspired from the largest rough diamond in the world. Rolls-Royce has already shown a couple of pictures with a test mule and they also said it will use a bespoke aluminum spaceframe which won’t be related to BMW.

However, the Cullinan SUV will still get some of the components from the BMW X7 and we already know from the British marque that it will be almost as long as the Phantom and it will probably use its 6.75-liter V12 engine. Rolls-Royce previously said that although it will not be a true off-roader, the high-riding model will be able to carry four people and their luggage in utmost comfort from the opera to the Alps. It’s set to receive a new type of suspension which will grant the vehicle with a magic-carpet ride while the interior cabin will be lavish and very high-end.
