Sixth generation Hyundai Elantra teased

The sixth-gen Hyundai Elantra is being officially previewed in a teaser image ahead of a forthcoming reveal. It seems the South Korean marque has decided to move the compact sedan a bit more upmarket as the design of the car is considerably more refined compared to the model it’s about to replace. It benefits from a prominent hexagonal front grille and comes with sleek new headlights which send out a bit of a Jaguar vibe. It also gets a sloping roofline which makes the model appear more dynamic while the prominent character lines help the Elantra feel more composed.

Hyundai has not provided any technical specifications, but according to a recent report it is believed the US-spec model will be offered with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine producing 175 bhp sent to the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In this configuration, the 2016 Hyundai Elantra will return 43 mpg US on the highway.

High-strength steel will apparently be used for 53% of the construction and the body has been aerodynamically optimized to obtain a drag coefficient of 0.27. As for the interior, expect to find an 8-inch touchscreen color display for the infotainment system, an Infiniti audio system, front and rear heated seats, remote start button, dual USB ports and support for Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.
