Toyota prepares Corolla Nurburgring Edition

Toyota has taken the wraps off the Corolla Nurburgring Edition which will be sold exclusively in Thailand. The special edition was developed to celebrate a seventh place finish for a Corolla Altis in its class at the 2014 Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race and comes with an array of cosmetic tweaks both inside and out. This special edition is actually based on the Corolla ESport but if equipped with bespoke 17-inch rims, piano black front grille and a beefier front bumper. It has also received a faux diffuser and a rear spoiler while the cabin boasts black leather seats and red inserts on the dash and door panels.

The 2015 Toyota Corolla Nurburgring Edition will be built and sold in Thailand with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine outputting 141 HP (104 kW) and a maximum torque of 130 lb-ft (177 Nm). Output is channeled to the front axle through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) so the performances are far from being stellar and worthy of the Nurburgring badge.

Customers will be able to get the special Corolla with White Pearl or Black Mica paint and all cars are getting a reworked suspension which Toyota says will enable better handling.
