Toyota unveils S-FR concept fort 2015 Tokyo Motor Show

Toyota will bring this S-FR concept to the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of the month. This has been envisioned as a no-frills, small and lightweight sportscar with a rear-wheel drive setup and a front-mounted engine. The rounded design gives it a cute look and chances are Toyota borrowed styling cues from the Sports 800 and the 86 Style Cb, thus turning this entry-level sportscar into a concept that we would really like to materialize into a production version as soon as possible although Toyota hasn’t said a word about that.

The S-FR concept is 3990mm long, 1695mm wide and 1320mm tall, with a 2480mm wheelbase and a 4-seat interior cabin. Toyota isn’t mentioning what powers the concept but we do know the engine is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox. It benefits from a front & rear independent suspension and comes with a relatively basic interior cabin with a digital instrument cluster and only a few physical buttons and knobs.

There are some rumors pointing out the S-FR concept will get a production version in 2018 with a 130 bhp 1.5-liter motor and an overall weight of just 980 kg. Hopefully, Toyota will shed some light regarding this matter at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show.
