Volkswagen Beetle GSR limited edition starts at $29,995

For those of you who remember, the limited edition Volkswagen Beetle GSR was launched earlier this year at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Now, VW USA has disclosed pricing information for this special model which begins at $29,995 for the model equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and from $31,095 once you opt for the DSG 6-speed dual clutch gearbox. These two transmissions are mated to a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine outputting 210 bhp (156 kW) and a peak torque of 280 Nm (207 lb-ft). 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) takes 6.6 seconds, en route to an electronically-limited top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).

The Volkswagen Beetle GSR limited edition has been fitted with 19-inch Tornado alloy wheels wrapped around in 235/40 tires. It comes with a multitude of goodies such as a Fender audio system, R-Line front and rear bumpers, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, along with keyless access with push-start button. Additional equipment included that we should mention is the three-color ambient lightning, heated front seats, Bluetooth connectivity and alloy-like pedals, together with a panoramic sunroof.


Only 3,500 units will be built, but VW USA didn’t say how many will be sold in the United States.
