ABT has announced plans to showcase at this year’s Essen Motor Show their new upgrade kit for the Volkswagen Golf VII GTI. Dubbed “Dark Edition”, the hot hatchback is now sitting on massive 20-inch rims wrapped around in high-performance tires measuring 235/30 R20 on all four corners. The vehicle adopts a sinister black paint with flashy red accents and benefits from a dark tint on the headlights, taillights and mirror caps. We also notice the restyled front spoiler, front and rear skirts, trunk lid attachment and side skirts. The rear now shows a black chrome quad exhaust that looks simply menacing.
Pop up the hood and we find out the turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine has been revised as its output has been lifted from the stock 230 HP to 300 HP. Thanks to the extra oomph, the Golf GTI by ABT will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.8 seconds so it’s 0.6 seconds faster than the GTI Performance.
