Volkswagen unveils more rugged Golf Alltrack

Volkswagen will be bringing to next week’s Paris Motor Show a more rugged version of the Golf Variant which will be commercialized with the “Alltrack” moniker starting mid-2015. Compared to the regular wagon version of the Golf, the Alltrack comes with a 20mm increased suspension and has received different front and rear bumpers combined with body cladding. It also rides on a fresh new set of alloy wheels and has been equipped with restyled roof rails.

Customers will be able to order the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack with a 1.8-liter TSI engine delivering 177 bhp (132 kW) which is enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 7.8 seconds There’s also a more economical 1.6 TDI with 108 bhp (80 kW) which grants a 12.1-second sprint. The model will also be available with a 2.0 TDI engine offered with 148 bhp (110 kW) and 181 bhp (135 kW).

Volkswagen says the Golf Alltrack will carry a starting price of approximately 23,000 pounds. Regardless of engine choice, all versions will be equipped as standard with a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system
