Volvo S60 Cross Country revealed ahead of NAIAS debut next week

The Volvo S60 Cross Country has been revealed and it’s the world’s first premium high-riding sedan. It follows the same philosophy as the old Subaru Outback sedan and AMC Eagle sedan but this time we are dealing with a premium model based on the S60 but featuring a 2.5 inches (65mm) increased ride height. It comes with an all-wheel drive system but Volvo will sell cheaper versions in Europe and other select markets with a front-wheel drive layout. It can get either 18- or 19-inch wheels wrapped around in high-profile tires which according to Volvo reduce noise, improve comfort and protect the wheel.

The Volvo S60 Cross Country is scheduled to go on sale later this year and will be commercialized in United States as a T5 All-Wheel Drive model packing 250 bhp (254 HP for the Euro-spec version). Those who purchase the car on the old continent will also have the possibility of opting for either a 2.0-liter D4 or a 2.4-liter D4 turbodiesel.
