2013 Maserati Quattroporte more info released
Maserati has released additional information about its upcoming 2013 Quattroporte. The vehicle is scheduled to make its public debut in January during the 2013 NAIAS organized in Detroit. The base version will be powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine pumping out 404 hp and 406 lb-ft, enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 285 km/h. There’s also a larger twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 that delivers 523 hp and 479 lb-ft or 524 lb-ft with overboost. 0-100 km/h takes just 4.7 seconds, en route to a top speed of 307 km/h. Both engines are built by Ferrari and will be connected exclusively to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The V8-powered variant will be sold exclusively with RWD, while the V6 variant can be ordered in the AWD flavor that in normal road conditions sends the entire power to the rear wheels, but if necessary it can send up to 50 percent to the front axle. This is a novelty option for a Maserati model.
The new Quattroporte is 207.2 inches long, 76.7 inches wide and has a 124.8 inch wheelbase. The latter is 4.2 inches longer than the outgoing model which means that the car should offer considerably more rear legroom. Weight was reduced by 220 pounds by using more aluminum on the body and in the chassis, resulting in an estimated curb weight of 4,101 pounds for the V6 model and 4,189 pounds for the V8 variant.
